Guatemala to hire 4,000 teachers for high school

Guatemala City, Sep 21 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) of Guatemala accelerates today an improvement process. Therefore, it announced to be hiring 4,000 teachers for high school by 2025.

The training area aims to recruit teachers for high school. Hence, those interested will only have to submit a single file, the Minister of Education, Anabella Giracca explained.

Teachers will be eligible for up to 30 working periods and those who do not manage to complete their workload will participate in future calls for applications, according to the government agency.

This process reinforces the coverage and quality of the educational system, especially at the high school level, where no teachers have been hired in the last 10 years, she said.

The minister accompanied President Bernardo Arevalo during the weekly transmission of his program on his TikTok to discuss the recovery of the school system.

This country renewed more than 7,500 schools from January 2024 to the beginning of this month, a figure that exceeds what was achieved from 2020 to 2022, according to local media.

The administration until 2028 of Arevalo and Vice President Karin Herrera expects to reach 35,922 school buildings with the improvement works, the minister described.

Guatemala contratará cuatro mil maestros para nivel medio

Ciudad de Guatemala, 21 sep (Prensa Latina) El Ministerio de Educación (Mineduc) de Guatemala acelera hoy un proceso de mejoras, por lo cual anunció la contratación de cuatro mil maestros para el nivel medio durante 2025. El área formativa aspira a reclutar educadores de los niveles básico (secundaria) y diversificado (preuniversitario) y los interesados solo deberán ingresar un único expediente, detalló la titular del sector, Anabella Giracca.

Los profesores podrán optar hasta 30 períodos laborales y quienes no logren completar su carga horaria, participarán en futuras convocatorias, según divulgó el organismo del Estado.

Con este proceso se espera reforzar la cobertura y calidad del sistema educativo, especialmente en el nivel medio, donde no se contrataron docentes en los últimos 10 años, señaló la funcionaria.

La ministra acompañó al presidente Bernardo Arévalo durante la trasmisión semanal de este por durante su TikTok para conversar sobre la recuperación del sistema escolar.
