The armed group alleged that the official is under interrogation because they claim to have knowledge that Betancourt was providing information to other armed groups and the National Army about the location of members of the Carlos Patiño Front, among other issues.

They also reported that the councilwoman is in good health and will be handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Betancourt had not been seen since September 14 and there was speculation that she had been kidnapped.
