The agreement, initialed during a visit by the company’s chairman, Qiu Yafu, to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will boost Pakistani imports and create around 500,000 jobs, according to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
According to the memorandum, the Chinese company plans to build textile parks by the end of 2024 in the provinces of Sindh and Punjab, and will invite some 100 companies from China to invest.
Qiu Yafu explained that the operation of these facilities, whose works will be completed in three years, will help turn Pakistan into a reference center in garments and apparel.
He pointed out that the textile parks will be solar-powered and will be automated, carbon-free facilities.
It was also announced that a commodity wholesale center will be established in Karachi and Lahore.
To oversee the smooth running of the project, the head of government announced the setting up of a special committee under Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor Ishaq Dar.

Islamabad, 20 sep (Prensa Latina) La Junta de Inversiones de Pakistán y la empresa textil china RUYI Shangdong firmaron hoy un memorando de entendimiento para el establecimiento de parques textiles de estándares internacionales en la nación surasiática.
Cuerpo : El acuerdo, rubricado durante una visita del presidente de la compañía, Qiu Yafu, al primer ministro Shehbaz Sharif, significará un impulso a las importaciones paquistaníes y posibilitará crear alrededor 500 mil de puestos de trabajo, de acuerdo con Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
Según el memorando, la empresa china prevé la construcción de parques textiles a finales de 2024 en las provincias de Sindh y Punjab, e invitará a invertir a unas 100 compañías del gigante asiático.
Qiu Yafu explicó que la explotación de esas instalaciones, cuyas obras culminarán en tres años, ayudarán a convertir Pakistán en centro de referencia en confecciones y prendas de vestir.
Señaló que los parques textiles se alimentarán con energía solar y serán instalaciones automatizadas, sin emisiones de carbono.
Se conoció asimismo que se establecerá un centro de venta al por mayor de productos básicos en Karachi y Lahore.
Para supervisar el buen desenvolvimiento del proyecto, el jefe de Gobierno informó la creación de un comité especial bajo el mando del viceprimer ministro y canciller Ishaq Dar.
