Seminar in Cuba on Parliamentary Diplomacy to conclude

Havana, Sep 19 (Prensa Latina) The 1st International Seminar on Parliamentary Diplomacy in Havana concludes on Thursday after opening on Wednesday.

The Seminar was attended by legislators, leaders, scholars and researchers from 18 countries.

According to the president of the Higher Institute of International Relations (ISRI), Rogelio Sierra, the event “stands as a crucial space to reflect on the fundamental role that parliamentarians play in building a better world.”

Sierra also highlighted the importance of Parliaments to guarantee more just, peaceful, prosperous and inclusive societies.

Deputy Rolando González, president of the Assembly’s International Relations Commission, made a speech, explaining the academic nature of the event, ans which served as an introduction to the debates.

The president of the National Council of Namibia, Lucas Sinimbo Muha, also made a brief discourse on the day, repudiating the United States blockade against Cuba, which threatens the peace and economic stability of Cuba and, therefore, “inevitably becomes a threat to global peace and security.

After exchanging opinions and debated practices about the main challenges of global development and the multilateral system the attendees to the Seminar will debate this Thursday about the need to strengthen and comply with international laws to protect human rights, among other topics.
