In a press release, the INP said that the incident occurred late Wednesday night in the Module of Processed II, where a group of 72 inmates staged a riot as part of a mass escape attempt.

In response to the situation, the action protocol was immediately activated with the reaction teams and the external security ring, which thwarted the attempt, the report highlighted.

It added that during the control operation, two inmates died, Carlos Andrés Soler and José Alejandro Cruz Cruz Cruz.

Regarding the six wounded, the document pointed out that they were immediately transferred to a medical center, where they are receiving specialized medical attention and are out of danger.

According to the information disclosed, the penitentiary authorities, under the coordination of the Military Police of Public Order, reinforced the control measures inside the precinct to guarantee the stability and security of the inmates and the penitentiary personnel.
