Lacroix, who is on a visit to the country, met on Monday with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Thérèse Wamba Wagner, with whom he discussed the issue and the Luanda Process.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, Lacroix regretted that humanitarian appeals for the DRC have only reached between 37 and 38 percent, but promised to continue his work to raise funds to meet the needs of people displaced by the conflict.
The UN Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO), an account on X noted that during the dialogue with the foreign minister, MONUSCO’s support was also discussed for the Southern African Development Community Mission (SAMIDRC) and the reinforced verification mechanism.
Lacroix arrived in Kinshasa on Sunday on an official five-day mission, and in addition to meeting Wagner, he met with members of the UN team in the country. Among the issues addressed were the withdrawal of MONUSCO from South Kivu, the transition and the challenges linked to the implementation of the mandates of UN funding and program agencies.
