The measure will be applied from 22:00, local time, on Wednesday until 06:00 on Thursday.
On a press release, the Executive indicated that the Security Block “will reinforce its actions to ensure the safety of citizens and the country across the national territory, with special attention to the cantons and parishes where this suspension of freedom of transit is in force.”
On Monday, the Interior Minister, Monica Palencia, announced that the Government would apply the curfew to reduce the risk level for citizens and make them stay at home.
According to the Ecuadorean Government, the national power outage will be conducted to reinforce the transmission system and distribution networks as one way to tackle the electric crisis.
Works will be carried out from 22:00, local time, on September 18 until 06:00 the following day, according to a statement released on the social network X of the Presidency.
The energy crisis in this nation worsened in mid-April, with outages of up to 13 hours in some places, and although blackouts were officially suspended since May 1, there have been disruptions for various reasons.
