According to the Ministry’s statement, during the meeting, which was held in Moscow, Lavrov informed Abdelatty in detail about Russia’s fundamental assessments and considerations on the Ukrainian issue.
Discussing the situation in the Gaza Strip, the foreign ministers emphasized the need for an early ceasefire and the urgent provision of humanitarian assistance to the population of the enclave.
The diplomats also confirmed the commitment of Moscow and Cairo to continue efforts to solve the situation in Libya on the basis of the principles of unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The similarity of the approaches of Russia and Egypt was highlighted in terms of resolving the ongoing crises and conflict situations in the Middle East and Africa through political and diplomatic means in accordance with the norms of international law and the provisions of the UN Charter,” the statement says.
The Ministers also exchanged views on a number of international and regional topics, and confirmed the commitment to maintaining coordination between countries at the UN, BRICS and other multilateral platforms.
Lavrov and Abdelatty examined a wide range of items related to the dynamic development of traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Egypt, and talked over the progress of joint investment projects, including the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant and the Russian industrial zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone.
