Haiti’s Public Health mobilizes in the aftermath of fuel tanker blast

Port-au-Prince, Sep 16 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of Public Health and Population of Haiti continues to mobilize it dependencies to guarantee better care for the survivors of a fuel tanker explosion, which killed 26 las Saturday, leaving dozens of others badly burnt.

To date, four health centers are participating in the care of the 53 people admitted for burns.

There are 11 ambulances available for the emergency that provide inter-hospital transport and transfers for patients requiring specialized care.

The latest partial figure is 26 dead and 53 injured, many in serious condition, said the digital newspaper Haiti Libre.

On Saturday, a tanker truck loaded with fuel collided with another vehicle, and several residents of Miragoane, in the department of Nippes, saw the opportunity to get gasoline for free and brought all kinds of recipients for that purpose.

Moments later, a huge explosion shook the area of the accident and killing a maiming dozens on the spot.
