The ICAP informed that during the next few days, the Grito de Lares (Cry of Lares), a rebellion that broke out on September 23, 1868, will be recalled and General Juan Rius Rivera will be honored on the 100th anniversary of his death.
Ceremonies are also planned to recall leader Juan Mari Bras on the 14th anniversary of his death, and also independence fighter Filiberto Ojeda, who was assassinated on September 23, 2005.
Acknowledging the work of the Cuban Solidarity Committee in Puerto Rico, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of its founding on September 18 is also expected.
With the participation of several members of the National Hostosiano Independence Movement of Puerto Rico (MINH), the program includes activities in Havana, Pinar del Rio, and Villa Clara provinces.
In Havana, participants will lay wreaths before the busts to Jose Marti and Ramon Emeterio Betances, visit the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, and hold a press briefing at the headquarters of the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU).
The event will last until October 29 and 30, when the draft resolution against the US blockade against Cuba will be presented at the United Nations.
