The Government Media Office in that enclave launched an urgent appeal pointing out that some two million people are displaced in the region as a result of the Israeli aggression.
It specified that 100,000 of the 135,000 tents sheltering these people need immediate replacement because they are very worn out.
The tents “are made of wood, nylon and fabric, and are worn out by the heat of the sun and the climatic conditions in the Gaza Strip,” it warned.
The territory is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe due to the onset of winter and difficult weather conditions, it added.
“As a result, two million people will be left without shelter in the winter,” it stressed.
The Office condemned the decision of Benjamin Netanyahu’s government to close border crossings, a move that prevented some 250,000 tents from entering.
Israel and its ally the United States are “fully responsible for these catastrophic conditions that our Palestinian people are experiencing,” it stressed.
“We urge the world, and especially the Arab countries, to provide tents to the Gazans,” the Palestinian authorities demanded.
They also called on the world to “break its silence” over the wave of crimes carried out by the Armed Forces of Israel.
