The meeting, held at the National University, discussed nine thematic axes in five tables, with the objective of reviewing what has been achieved in social, economic and political matters in the first two years of the Petro administration, as well as establishing a roadmap for local, regional, national and international mobilization for the remaining period.
Another of the goals of the meeting, organized by the labor unions and the coalition Historic Pact, is to strengthen the unity of the progressive movements of the country and to become a platform for the articulation and strengthening of the people’s power in support of a project for a country that ensures the rights of the majority.
During the first of its sessions, held yesterday, President Petro urged those present to form Committees for the Defense of Change to safeguard the measures aimed at social vindication and to watch over the fulfillment of democracy.
According to the president, the duty of these bodies, which must be created in municipalities, villages and regions, “is to summon the people on the day, days or months necessary to engage power and transform it”.
As part of his speech, the head of state reiterated the threats against his government and even commented on the plans to end his life.
“They put the bill to see if Petro disappears in December, I am going to tell you: with the money they put they bought two vehicles and the idea they have is to fill it with dynamite and explosives, and with inside information of my routines, blow it up as I pass by”, warned the ruler.
He reiterated his denunciation that a soft coup is being plotted against him, materialized with the order to withdraw his constitutional immunity, guided by three magistrates who do not have the competence to decide it, nor the power to establish that the National Electoral Council can judge him.
