In a review of the letter, the Sri Lankan newspaper explains that former leaders from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia are asking Biden to reconsider Washington’s stance on Cuba.
The missive particularly refers to the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the inclusion of Cuba in the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism.
The signatories highlighted the dire situation facing the Cuban population and urged a more humanitarian approach to the decades-long political stalemate, the newspaper said.
The letter underscores the serious impact of the U.S. measures, which it says are unilateral, unjust and contribute to the destabilization of the Cuban economy, thus worsening the humanitarian situation on the island, the Sri Lankan Guardian notes.
