My thoughts of solidarity go out to him and his loved ones, as well as to the Comorian people,” Mussallam said on his social network X account.

Assoumani suffered a stabbing attack the day before during the funeral of a sheikh of the country.

According to press reports from Moroni, the president is out of danger and was able to return to his residence, while the attacker was arrested and is in the custody of the security services.

Comoros is an island country in southeast Africa, located between northern Madagascar and Mozambique.
