The diplomat wrote on Telegram that the Russian president made a very serious, delicate warning, but one that is not advisable to ignore.
Ulyanov cited Putin’s words on Thursday that Moscow may make “appropriate decisions” in case NATO uses long-range weapons against Russia from Ukraine.
Putin stated that NATO member countries are currently deciding whether or not to participate directly in the Ukrainian conflict.
The president added that “direct participation significantly changes the very essence, the nature of the conflict. It will mean that NATO countries, the United States, European countries, are at war with Russia.”
On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he spoke with his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrei Sibiga, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about launching long-range missiles into Russian territory.
