The president expressed in his speech that, despite many threats, insults and slanders from the nation’s enemies, Nicaraguans will not take a step back and the government will continue to bring benefits to the people.
The head of state called for joining in beneficial efforts for all and stressed that the eradication of poverty is a commitment to the people and to the heroes and martyrs who fought for independence.
Ortega stressed the importance of multiplying schools and universities so that young Nicaraguans, regardless of their economic and social condition, may have the possibility of preparing themselves, free of charge, in higher education centers.
The president recalled the battles fought by Simon Bolivar in the South American region, and how these served as an example to achieve freedom in the central part of the continent. He also reminded how with independence they were born in unity, and with the passage of time began the process in which each country became independent and the Central American region emerged.
“Let us be the United Republics of Central America and we will be stronger, more powerful in the fight against poverty, against misery, for sovereignty, we will be more powerful and this is the stage we are living now, not only in Central America, but in all of Latin America where the imperialists of the earth want to divide us,” the president stressed.
