After touring Najaf and Karbala, Pezeshkian will travel to Iraq’s economic capital, Iraq’s commercial and oil ports, major export terminals and hold talks with Iranian traders in the city.

During his stay in Kurdistan yesterday, the Iranian leader was received by the President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, who considered the visit as a significant symbol of the shared friendship between the two nations.

Barzani expressed the Kurdistan Region’s desire to strengthen ties and expand cooperation with the Islamic Republic in various fields.

In response, Pezeshkian underlined the importance Iran attaches to its relationship with both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and stressed the dedication to strengthen collaboration in multiple areas and face any challenges that may arise.

The sides discussed issues of mutual interest with a particular focus on the need to maintain peace and stability in the region.

Following the gathering, the two presidents held a meeting with political parties and representatives of various religious and ethnic communities of the Kurdistan Region.
