According to the Ministry, consular services will continue to be offered telematically and through the Consulates in the Colombian capital, Bogota and Panama City.
This week, the former Ecuadorian Vice- Foreign Minister, Fernando Yepez, questioned the position of the Government of this South American nation with respect to the political situation in Venezuela.
Yepez criticized the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry and described as clumsy the communiqué issued this weekend by that entity, where it blamed President Nicolas Maduro for the departure from the country of opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez.
It shows the unconsciousness of Daniel Noboa and the Foreign Minister Gabriela Sommerfeld, who, after assaulting an Embassy, kidnapping an asylum seeker and using justice to persecute their own Vice President and opponents, shame Venezuela”, said the former official in his social network X.
For Yepez, such pronouncement lacks the necessary seriousness and respect, affecting Ecuador’s international credibility.
On April 16, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro also announced the immediate withdrawal of his diplomatic personnel from Ecuador and in solidarity with the people and government of Mexico after the assault on its embassy in Quito.
The Bolivarian Republic also joined the Mexican proposal to sue Ecuador before the International Court of Justice.
