Cultural event in Panama condemns U.S. blockade of Cuba

Panama City, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) Panamanian artists participating in a cultural evening organized by the Cuban Embassy, rejected the blockade imposed on the island by the United States, which they considered to be the greatest obstacle to its development.

In declarations to Prensa Latina, singer-songwriter Adalberto Bazán indicated that the economic, commercial and financial blocks is more than 60 years old and has failed in its objective of asphyxiating a heroic people, worthy for its creative resistance.

The director of the musical group Matices also described the blockade as inhumane because it violates the basic rights of the Cuban families.

He also considered that this type of cultural meeting, sponsored by the diplomatic legation headed by Victor Cairo, contributes to generate greater knowledge among artists and intellectuals, but also solidarity towards this noble cause and the international demand for Washington to put an end to the hostile policy.

The day before, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez released the report ¨Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and finaancial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba¨, which will be presented next October for approval by the United Nations General Assembly.
