Bolivia denounces U.S. blockade against Cuba

La Paz, Sep 13 (Prensa Latina) The Chargé d'Affaires in Bolivia, Yohanelis Gutierrez, assured today that Cuba will persist in the United Nations (UN) on the need for the United States to eliminate the economic, commercial and financial blockade against the Caribbean island.

Our country will once again present at the UN the draft resolution against these reprisals and, as always, we trust in the vote of the vast majority of the member states, which have never failed us since 1992′, she said at a press conference attended by Prensa Latina.

The diplomat reaffirmed that the Cuban people will not cease in the struggle for the elimination of this network of reprisals, which she described as criminal against an entire people, and which have lasted for more than six decades.

The truth that assists us causes that every year the vast majority of the member countries support us with their vote, and Bolivia is one of those that always supports us’, he said.

Contrary to the vast majority of the international community, Washington persists in its policy considered genocidal, because it aims to surrender by hunger and despair to a whole people who do not bow to the imperial designs of its northern neighbor, recalled the Chargé d’Affaires.

She stressed that more than six decades have passed since the White House established these reprisals, to which other supranational reprisals were added, because Washington persecutes and economically represses companies and individuals who do business with Cuba or invest in its territory.

He indicated that during Donald Trump’s administration, 243 additional hostile measures were added, which are maintained by Joseph Biden’s Executive Branch, which increases the suffering and at the same time the resistance of the Cuban people.

Gutierrez explained that in order to justify this policy which it repeatedly mentioned as genocidal, the State Department included Cuba in a unilaterally elaborated list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism.

“This is a slander, because Cuba sends doctors, teachers, culture, sportsmen and solidarity to the rest of the world”, he said.

According to Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, the U.S. siege constitutes the most ruthless, comprehensive and prolonged economic war policy imposed on any country in the world.
