The beautiful institution is one of four finalists for the annual Public Library of the Year award from the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, and competes for the laurel with two new libraries in China and one in Lithuania, in the central city of Kaunas.

Award-winning Australian architectural firm FJC Studio designed Yellamundie, which means “the storyteller” in the local Dharug language.

The library, which opened in December last year as part of the Yellamundie Civic Place library and art gallery, is a Liverpool City Council building and includes public art gallery spaces and a STEM center.

As reported by the British newspaper The Guardian, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions, based in The Hague, Netherlands, will announce the winner in Barcelona next month.

Sidney, 13 sep (Prensa Latina) La biblioteca Yellamundie ubicada en el corazón del suroeste de Sydney en Australia figura hoy entre las cuatro más hermosas del mundo, según un certamen anual reconocido en este ámbito.

La hermosa institución es una de las cuatro finalistas del premio anual Biblioteca Pública del Año de la Federación Internacional de Asociaciones e Instituciones de Bibliotecas, y compite por el lauro con dos nuevas bibliotecas en China y una en Lituania, en la ciudad central de Kaunas.

El galardonado estudio de arquitectura australiano FJC Studio diseñó Yellamundie, que significa “el narrador de historias” en el idioma local Dharug.

El recinto, inaugurado en diciembre del año pasado como parte de la biblioteca y galería de arte Yellamundie Civic Place, es un edificio del ayuntamiento de Liverpool e incluye espacios de galería de arte público y un centro STEM.

Según reportó el diario británico The Guardian, la Federación Internacional de Asociaciones e Instituciones de Bibliotecas, con sede en La Haya, Países Bajos, anunciará el ganador en Barcelona el próximo mes.
