Damascus, Sep 12 (Prensa Latina) The Russian Coordination Center based at the Hemeimem base in the Syrian coastal province of Latakia, announced the delivery of a new batch of medical aid to the Health Department of that governorate.

Deputy Director of Health in Latakia, Samer Ahmed, stated that the assistance includes medicines and medical supplies for hospitals.

This batch is part of the successive assistance provided by the Russian Health Ministry to the Syrian health authorities, he assured.

The functionary thanked the Russian friends for the assistance they provide, which contributes to improving the quality of services offered by the health sector.

Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Coordination Center, General Yorgi Sergeevich, said that the current batch of aid includes seven and a half tons of medicines and medical equipment needed for hospitals.

He stated that the provision of medical assistance is in response to the instructions of the Russian leadership, and goes in parallel with the delivery of food and humanitarian aid to the population of the governorate.

During the current week, Russian forces, operating in Syria since 2015 at the request of the government of this Arab nation, delivered several batches of medical, food and school assistance in various regions of the country.

The civilian beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the Russian assistance, which helps them cope with the economic hardship caused by the unjust sanctions against the Syrian people.
