The encounter was held as part of the China-Philippines Bilateral Consultation Mechanism on that maritime zone, the Foreign Ministry informed.
According to the portfolio, the parties had a sincere and in-depth exchange of views on sea-related issues between China and the Philippines, especially the Xianbin Reef.
Beijing reiterated its principled position on the Xianbin Reef issue and urged the Philippines to immediately evacuate relevant vessels.
Both sides agreed to continue to maintain communication through the Bilateral Consultation Mechanism and other diplomatic channels.
Last August, in less than two weeks, there were at least three collisions between China and the Philippines on Xianbin Reef.
