Vietnam values traditional friendship with the DPRK

Hanoi, Sep 11 (Prensa Latina) Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh reaffirmed in this capital the consistent stance maintained until today by his country to value the traditional friendship with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

It is a bond established and nurtured personally by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Kim Il Sung, and preserved, inherited and continuously promoted by successive generations of leaders and peoples of the two nations, the vice minister said as he received his DPRK counterpart Pak Sang Gil.

Thanh Binh expressed Vietnam’s desire to work closely with the DPRK to further develop bilateral ties in various sectors, in line with the hopes of their peoples and contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and beyond.

Pak, in turn, noted that the relationship between the two countries entered a new phase of development following the official visit here by DPRK Workers’ Party General Secretary and State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un in March 2019.

The two sides, VNA said, agreed to prepare to celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2025 and noted that the focus will be on increasing the exchange of delegations and exploring potential cooperation in mutually beneficial areas which are in line with international regulations.
