On the 50th anniversary of relations between Cuba and the UNFPA, the head further expressed her gratitude for the understanding and acceptance given by Cuban institutions and organizations, as the Fund “works with them shoulder to shoulder, day after day.”
Sottoli’s statements predated the High-Level Panel held in the Vedado Hall of the National Hotel, follwed by the main celebration, in the Cuba Pavilion.
This is also a celebration of Cuba’s achievements in making true both the Cairo agenda – International Conference on Population and Development-1994, and the Montevideo Consensus – Latin American and Caribbean strategy for sustainable development, said Sottoli.
She noted that “innovative public policies such as the family code,” represent Cuba’s “commitment and will” to “walk a path towards egalitarian social development and a shared future, honoring” numerous human rights.
