Jean Marc Berthier, Minister of Defense, met with Canadian Ambassador to Haiti, André François, to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation in this area.
The meeting took place days after it was announced that the Haitian National Police will receive training in specialized centers in Brazil, with the objective of raising the level of the agents in the fight against gangs.
The agreement was adopted in the context of a visit by Haiti’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Dominique Dupuy, to Brazil, where she participated in the Conference on the African Diaspora in the Americas.
Dupuy met with the Brazilian Minister of Justice, Ricardo Lewandowski, and the Minister of Defense, José Múcio, and agreed that more than 400 Haitian police officers will benefit from training in various centers in Brazil.
