At the meeting, hosted at Uneac’s national headquarters in Havana, Dong Yaopeng, at the head of the Chinese delegation, highlighted the similarities between the Asian nation and Cuba, as socialist nations and great exponents of culture in their respective regions.
He also stressed the importance of maintaining and developing a path towards integration for writers and artists from both countries, according to a press release from Uneac.
Liu Yanming, head of Division of Cflac’s International Cooperation Department, urged that Cuba be represented in the next International Festival of Chinese Folk Culture.
The event is considered among the most important in China, dedicated to promoting exchanges with artists from all over the world through music and dance.
Uneac’s president, Marta Bonet, pointed out that both organizations share many common elements as representatives of the artistic vanguard.
Speaking on behalf of Cuban artists and writers, she thanked the Chinese guests for their invitation to celebrate Chinese culture together.
Dong Yaopeng expressed the desire of the Federation of Literary Circles and Artists of China to increase cooperation in the field of culture with Cuba, so as to contribute to preserve the beauty of art and traditions of both peoples.
