Authorities investigate attack leaving 10 wounded in Bogota

Bogota, Sep 11 (Prensa Latina) The authorities of this capital city are investigating today an attack that took place last night in the locality of Kennedy, south of Bogota, which left 10 wounded, among them two policemen.

Mayor Carlos Fernando Galan said that the attack is presumed to be a response by criminal gangs to the operations undertaken to dismantle them.

This attack is in retaliation for the efforts made by the authorities to strike at the criminal organizations that operate in the sector,” he said.

In addition to condemning what happened, he pointed out that a permanent investigation is being carried out in this community, which has already resulted in the capture of at least 15 ringleaders and more than 90 people linked to criminal structures.

This is one of the sectors prioritized by the District in the fight against crimes such as homicide, drug trafficking and extortion.

Here we have struck hard blows in recent months.

We have more than 90 captures to the structures that operate in the area, among them; ‘Tren de Aragua’, ‘Satanas’ and ‘Los Caucanos”,’ he revealed.

He added that a specialized group is advancing in the investigation work to determine the motives of the explosion, at the same time that a padlock plan was ordered to be activated in the sector.

Galan also insisted that criminals will not stop the work carried out by the forces of law and order and that the institutional presence will be multiplied to hit these organizations harder and harder.

During this day it was also reported the death of an individual who tried to cause a second explosion also last night in the same locality of Kennedy.

Authorities reported that the man was trying to cause panic in the area and attempt to attack the police officers, but the device he was carrying exploded in his hands and ultimately killed him.
