Some 1,600 Nicaraguan immates to receive family cohabitation benefit

Managua, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) An estimated 1,600 prisoners who have been in the different units of the Nicaraguan Penitentiary System will reportedly receive the legal benefit from family cohabitation this week.

Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo informed that the ceremonies for delivering the letters of release will take place in the prison centers in Tipitapa, Matagalpa, Granada, Leon, Esteli, Juigalpa, Chinandega, and Bluefields on Thursday, September 12.

The Sandinista leader stated that 1,491 of 1,600 prisoners are men and 109 are women. Some 516 are in the prison center in Tipitapa, 308 in Granada, 209 in Matagalpa, 149 in Esteli, 145 in Chinandega, 126 in Juigalpa, 78 in Leon, and 69 in Bluefields, on the southern Caribbean coast.

The Nicaraguan prisoners will receive their freedom in salute to the national holiday celebrating the 203rd anniversary of the Central American independence.
