Located on the Northern coast of the Eastern Camaguey province, Santa Lucía has been a benchmark of the leisure industry that has gradually lost charm. New plans however, point to a full recovery by next winter.
Speaking at a press round, Ivonne Montejo, deputy delegate of Grupo Cubanacan, said a campaign has been rolled out this summer ‘aimed at enticing workers to give a better service’.
She added that ‘after building new facilities, both in downtown Camagüey and in Santa Lucia resort, we are opening new vacancies and jobs, availing ourselves of the agreements reached at the Tourism Fairs in recent years’.
As part of such accords with foreign companies, ‘some facilities are now under the foreign management, as in the case of Blue Diamond, currently managing San Juan de Dios, Santa María and Colonial Hotels, in the Old Quarter of the City, she said.
In Santa Lucia, the Canadian Hotel Chain has expanded its operations to Gran Amigo Caracol, Club Santa Lucia and Planta Real.
“Managing concepts have changed in these hotel facilities, so we are implementing a new process of infrastructure investments, including a Zen Garden, especially in Caracol and Gran Club,” said Montejo.
Transformations will include healthy cuisine in the area of specialized restaurants and the opening of Italian, Mexican and Chinese eateries.
