In a speech for the 76th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), the leader explained that this decision is in response to the need to confront the serious threat arising from the current regional environment, the state-run ACNC news agency reported.
He noted that the U.S.-led hostile forces and their nuclear arsenal pose a serious danger to the DPRK and that the DPRK must therefore further improve its nuclear deterrent because it is, he stressed, a duty and a right to exist.
We are perfectly carrying out the policy of improving the nuclear armed forces by increasing the number of nuclear weapons in geometric progression, the supreme commander of the armed forces said.
He made it clear, however, that the DPRK is a responsible state and that such actions do not pose a threat to anyone because they are mainly for defensive purposes.
Those who consider the DPRK’s nuclear force threatening only reveal their admission that they have a hostile intention to attack the DPRK, he remarked.
