India and Commonwealth of Nations reviewed collaboration

New Delhi, Sep 10 (Prensa Latina) Executives from India and the Commonwealth of Nations reviewed aspects of their collaboration, as well as the prospects for joint work.

The secretary of the Department of Public Affairs, Darpg, of India, V. Srinivas, and Luis Franceschi, Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth, discussed measures to follow up the April 2024 statement which resulted from the meeting of Secretaries of Public Services and the Cabinet of the group of nations.

Functionaries from both sides identified areas of collaboration on government business and India’s participation in the specialized Working Group and the Artificial Intelligence Consortium.

The Commonwealth of Nations is a voluntary association of 56 countries, including both advanced economies and developing nations. At least 33 of its members are small states, including island nations, according to the organization itself.

The member governments of the Commonwealth have agreed shared objectives such as development and peace with the values and principles expressed in the Charter of the Commonwealth of Nations, the source indicates.

The roots of the Commonwealth of Nations can be traced back to the nations that were colonized by the British Empire; however, currently any country can join, as Gabon and Togo did back in 2022.
