In an interview with the Spanish newspaper El País and broadcast Tuesday by local media, Abad questioned Noboa’s decision to move her from Israel to Turkey, a country where she arrived yesterday due to the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, according to the president.
“It is not true that the transfer owes to security reasons, the Government and the chancellor are lying. The diplomatic team, for example, has decided to stay in Israel, while I have to travel on my own,” she said.
In Abad’s words she demanded explanations on why she was sent to Ankara, but so far she has not received answers, she added.
“These are pressures trying to make me to resign and leave office on my own account. The terrible enemy, as the president has described himself, has no limits,” the Ecuadorian vice president emphasized.
On August 8, Noboa ordered Abad’s transfer to Ankara and specified that from there she will continue with her duties as ambassador of Peace to Israel, until her return to Tel Aviv is arranged.
Last week, Ecuadorian Foreign Minister, Gabriela Sommerfeld, arrived in Israel as part of an official visit, but her agenda did not include any meeting with Abad.
Likewise, the advisor to the Presidency of Ecuador Diana Jácome reiterated the Government’s intentions to dismiss Abad.
In statements to the Radio Quito radio station, Jácome declared that on September 30 there will be a hearing on Abad’s case.
