“Of course, measures will be adopted that will limit the dissemination of information by their media outlets,” declared Peskov when commenting this Friday to the Sputnik news agency about the sanctions imposed by Washington on Russian media outlets.
The spokesman added that some restrictions on US media outlets have already gone into effect.
On Wednesday, the United States imposed sanctions against Rossiya Segodnya, RIA Nóvosti, RT, Sputnik and Ruptly. The new US sanctions affected Margarita Simonián, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya news agency and RT, as well as several directors of the channel.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused the aforementioned media outlets of “covert influence operations.”
In turn, Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, declared that this step by Washington is an attempt to blame Russia for its mistakes.
