One of them was the opening of an exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts that included more than 30 paintings showing the great contributions made to the independence and national sovereignty by the progenitors Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and the current leader of the country, Kim Jong Un.
On the same theme, a stamp exhibition was held at the Pyongyang Philatelic Museum, while a public speaking event for university students was held at the Pyongyang Youth Park in the capital.
The secretary general of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Committee received congratulatory messages from dignitaries of other states, leaders of left-wing parties, solidarity organizations and diplomats accredited to the DPRK.
In August 1948 the DPRK elected the Supreme People’s Assembly and on September 3 a new Constitution was promulgated.
Six days later, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was proclaimed jointly with Kim Il Sung as Prime Minister.
