Kiev, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) today endorsed the appointment of Andrei Sibiga as the country's new foreign minister, after the dismissal of Dmitry Kuleba, said MP Alexei Goncharenko.

In his social network Telegram, Goncharenko explained that the Verkhovna Rada supported the appointment of the hitherto deputy foreign minister Sibiga to the post of foreign minister with 258 votes in favor, out of a possible 350.

Earlier, legislator Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced a purge of senior government officials for this week, including Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba and Justice Minister Denis Maliuska.

On September 4, the Parliament also approved the dismissal of the ministers of Justice, the Environment and Industrial Strategic Matters, as well as the deputy prime minister for Euro-Atlantic integration Olga Stefanishina, among other high-ranking officials.
