Terrorist onslaught kills 15 Syrian troopers

Damascus, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) At least 15 Syrian soldiers were killed during the last two days as consequence of attacks by terrorist groups in the country’s Northwest, local media reported today quoting military sources.

According to the sources, the onslaught on military posts occurred in the northeastern tip of Latakia province, near the borders with Idlib, considered the main stronghold of militant gangs in the country.

Most of the militants were suicide bombers, affiliated to the groups called ‘Levant Liberation Board’ and ‘Turkestan Party’, sources indicated.

The attack ended with no change in the de facto control of the area, where the army continued shelling the terrorists’ strongholds and supply lines, in the town of Jesser Al-Shughur.

Syria is fighting a war imposed since 2011 and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals, attacks on local forces still continue, in what Damascus considers foreign funded activities aimed at destabilizing the country.
