Cuban and Vietnamese journalists will debate press management

Havana, Sep 5 (Prensa Latina) Press professionals from Cuba and Vietnam will discuss experiences in media management as part of the visit to Cuba of a delegation of representatives of the Vietnamese press.

Nearly a dozen presentations by journalists, managers and academics from both nations will be made at the headquarters of the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC) in Havana during the Seminar “Vietnam-Cuba: socialist press in transformation,” the organizers reported.

The meeting with 15 members of the Association of Journalists of Vietnam (APV), led by its vice president Tran Troug Dung, also has the purpose of strengthening ties between representatives of the specialty from both countries, said the vice president of UPEC, Bolivia Tamara Cruz.

The academic program will begin with the presentation of lectures by the Cuban side. The general coordinator of the Patria International Colloquium, Rosa Miriam Elizalde, will present the topic “Cuba: network society in the face of a media war”, while the vice president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, Onelio Castillo, will address the topic “Communication as a strategic resource in Cuba and the Social Communication Law”, and the president of UPEC, Ricardo Ronquillo, will discuss the transformations of the press model in Cuba.

On the Vietnamese side, the head of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Nguyen Ngoc Oanh, will be in charge of the topic “The press abroad and international communication in the digital age”. The journalist and Editor-in-Chief of the Toui Tre newspaper, Le Xuan Trung, will forward his considerations about the application of artificial intelligence in content development and editorial management. Ta Bich Loan, from VTV, will speak on digital transformation in the press, self-financing, business models, advertising revenue generation, implementation methods, achievements and issues raised on Vietnam National Television.

Academics Thi Thu Hang and Ta Thi Bich Loan will deliver their presentation “Journalistic process and skills to handle false, distorted and harmful information and to protect sovereignty in cyberspace”, after which attendees to the forum will exchange ideas with them.

To close the exhibition space, Ta Thi Bích will present “The economy of the press and the media: Production of advertising and management of economic activities of the Press.”
