Military sources quoted by national broadcaster Sham fm said that gunmen opened fire from their weapons on the car near the town of Al-Naemeh in the eastern part of the governorate.

The day before, at least six police and security officers were wounded after a bomb attack on a government motorcade in the same Deraa governorate.

According to the Provincial Police, the action was perpetrated by detonating an explosive device as an official convoy passed by, which included the cars of the Governor, the Secretary of the ruling Baath Party, the Police Commander and managers of the health and education sectors.

Syria faces a war imposed since 2011 and although its army, with the support of its allies Russia and Iran, liberated most of the national territory from radicals. Damascus blames groups supported from abroad for some attacks aimed to continue destabilizing the country.
