Bukhara, Uzbekistan’s fifth most populous city, is known mainly for its mosques and madrasas, many of which date back centuries and are considered important examples of Islamic architecture.
The Bukhara Biennial, which will open on September 5 next year, will take place in the city’s historic district and is expected to feature leading international and Uzbek artists.
It will be curated by Diana Campbell, a Los Angeles-based curator and artistic director of the Samdani Art Foundation in Bangladesh, reported ArtNews.
