The economic crimes prosecutor Gilberto Rodriguez opened an investigation into the accusation against the AUF president, Ignacio Alonso, and two other directors on charges of embezzling US$30 million.

The accusation points to the lack of transparency in the handling of money and the concealment of accounting information of the association.

For the denouncing clubs, there are indications that ‘fraudulent balance sheets’ have been presented, especially due to the notorious differences detected between the balance sheets of the South American Football Confederation and those presented by the AUF.

The complaint was also filed with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
