Ahmed arrived in Beijing on an official visit heading a high-level delegation to participate in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation Summit (FOCAC 2024). According to a report on X, the Ethiopian representatives held talks with Xi and Chinese government authorities.
The Primer Minister commented that despite the challenges faced, they are making significant progress in agriculture, manufacturing, industry, tourism, telecommunications and other sectors.
“Chinese investments have played a key role in this progress, and there is substantial potential for growth in areas such as tourism and the paper and pulp industry. We are deeply committed to enhance our partnership,” Ahmed stressed.
FOCAC 2024 will focus on expanding bilateral relations and supporting modernization as part of the community of shared future.
The event will last until September 6th, and although the multilateral meetings began today, Wednesday, the official opening will take place on Thursday the 5th, when the Chinese president will give an opening speech.
The Forum was established in 2000 as a platform to strengthen relations between both parties and since its creation was the scene of important announcements by China regarding the financing of projects in Africa.
