The legal instrument provides for the Chinese company, an international leader in the mining and processing of base and rare metals, to build photovoltaic power plants in the DRC within two years, with a first phase in the province of Lualaba, the Presidency said on the social network X.
The memorandum of understanding was signed the day before in Beijing, as part of the actions to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
This Tuesday also concluded the first DRC-China economic forum, after two days of discussions on investment opportunities.
More than 300 participants from both countries took part in the event, which was closed by Deputy Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba, representing the Congolese head of State, Felix Tshisekedi.
Mr. Bemba underscored the willingness expressed by the presidents of both countries to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
He added that the DRC is committed to guaranteeing the security of businessmen and businesses, and called for a rigorous follow-up of the agreements, in order to achieve the materialization of the proposed objectives.
The first DRC-China forum had among its goals to support partnership initiatives between companies from the two countries and to provide a better insight into the business environment in the DRC.
