During a speech the day before at the beginning of a military parade in salute to the 45th anniversary of the Nicaraguan Army, Ortega mentioned the recent intervention of his Mexican counterpart Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) who alluded to the migration flowing from the south to the United States.
According to the Sandinista leader, AMLO expressed that this process is not going to be stopped with walls or repression, but with investments in all the countries from where thousands of citizens migrate.
“Let’s talk here in Central America, how many migrants go to the United States and they are not going to steal, they are not going to kill, they are not going to murder, they are not drug traffickers, they are honest citizens who want to improve their living conditions,” he commented.
He pointed out that governments cannot prohibit or oppose migratory processes, and added that here the Sandinista Executive multiplies efforts so that its population is not forced to emigrate out of the country.

Managua, 4 sep (Prensa Latina) El presidente Daniel Ortega destacó los esfuerzos que realiza hoy su Gobierno para contrarrestar los flujos migratorios de los nicaragüenses.
Cuerpo : Durante un discurso la víspera al inicio de un desfile militar en saludo al 45 aniversario del Ejército de Nicaragua, Ortega mencionó la reciente intervención de su homólogo mexicano Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) quien aludió a la migración que fluye desde el sur hacia Estados Unidos.
Según el líder sandinista, AMLO expresó que ese proceso no se va a detener ni se detiene con muros ni con represión, sino con inversiones en todos los países desde donde emigran miles de ciudadanos.
“Hablemos aquí en Centroamérica, cuántos migrantes van a los Estados Unidos y no van a robar, no van a matar, no van a asesinar, no son narcotraficantes, son ciudadanos honestos que quieren mejorar sus condiciones de vida”, comentó.
Señaló que los gobiernos no pueden prohibir ni oponerse a los procesos migratorios, y añadió que aquí el Ejecutivo sandinista multiplica esfuerzos para que su población no se vea obligada a emigrar fuera del país.
