The initiative, promoted by the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), will run until the vote at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on the draft resolution to end the US blockade against Cuba and will plan actions for its exclusion from Washington’s list of States Sponsors of Terrorism (SSOT).
ICAP authorities stated that the day will be marked by a tribute to Fabio Di Celmo, an Italian tourist who was a victim of a terrorist attack on the Copacabana Hotel in Havana on September 4, 1997.
At a press release in Havana on Tuesday, the event’s organizers expressed that the call will include both activities in Havana and nationwide, in which ICAP’s provincial delegations will participate.
They affirmed that the Cuban pacifist group’s call will surely be supported by progressive people globally who have been systematically demanding an end to the US hostility against Cuba for more than six decades.
To achieve the planned objectives, ICAP points out, among other things, to hold the International Day of Peace on September 21, the universal condemnation of the genocidal US blockade, and Cuba’s unjustified inclusion in the SSOT list.
