This office informed that the Child Protection Section (CPS), attached to the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the DRC (MONUSCO), documented and verified 88 grave violations against children in the context of the armed conflict in July 2024.
This represents a decrease of 81 percent (455) compared to June of the same year. Children face abductions, killings, mutilations, recruitment and use, and sexual violence.
Armed groups such as the March 23 Movement (M23), the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), the Cooperative for the Development of the Congo, and Mai-Mai Mazembe are among those with the highest incidence. The armed forces of the DRC also appear in the report as responsible for two cases.
