It is a program to systematize, analyze and disseminate regulations of the sector in the region.

The decision to establish the observatory here followed a consensus reached during the 69th meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for the Americas, held in Varadero, Cuba.

UN Tourism and the Inter-American Development Bank are participating in the program, which was inaugurated by President Luis Lacalle Pou.

The Uruguayan head of Tourism, Eduardo Sanguinetti said that the venue, which will operate at the UN headquarters in this capital, constitutes “a significant milestone for tourism law.”

He called for more harmonious and efficient legislation for the development of tourism, the protection of travelers, operators and States.
