After an emergency meeting, ATE informed that the measure includes its representations throughout the country and asked its provincial secretariats to deepen the fight program. “We have to multiply the protests in all organizations. We must expose not only the Government with its plan to destroy salaries and jobs, but also those who decide to be its accomplices, said union representative Rodolfo Aguiar.
ATE members rejected the proposal of Javier Milei’s government to increase salaries by only two percent in September and one in October. In addition, they recalled that during 2024, employees lost 30 percent of their purchasing power.
As a protest, the organization plans to carry out open radio broadcasts, peaceful vigils in workplaces and withholding services, among other initiatives. “We decided to call all the general secretaries on the 10th to advance in the organization of a new general strike. We have to continue talking, articulating and building actions with all the unions that are willing to fight,” Aguiar said. “There are conditions and there are plenty of reasons for a new strike that includes all sectors and activities,” he added.
Aguiar also warned that there are more than 65,000 workers at the State’s temporary plant whose employment contracts were renewed at the beginning of June for only 90 days, putting them at risk at the end of this month.
Moreover, ATE requests the annulment of the decree of necessity and urgency 70/23 (which eliminates or modifies more than 300 regulations), the urgent reinstatement of all those laid off, and the cessation of adjustment, misery and hunger policies, among other demands.
