The two leaders held talks in Beijing, together with their ‘small delegations’, in which they discussed bilateral cooperation, trade partnership and diplomatic relations, said the Congolese Presidency in its account on the social network X.
Tshisekedi acknowledged that Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory and deeply thanked the Asian giant for its continued support within the United Nations Security Council, in particular to ensure respect for the sovereignty of the DRC and stability in the Great Lakes region.
Following the meeting, the Congolese head of state and his official delegation attended a friendly lunch, where he reiterated his desire to expand the partnership between China and the DRC in sectors such as agriculture and renewable energy.
In particular, the Congolese President referred to the necessary cooperation in the field of industrialization, with a view to transforming the DRC’s mineral wealth locally.
Representing the Chinese government, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang confirmed Beijing’s willingness to deepen the partnership with the DRC in various sectors for the mutual benefit of both peoples.
Tshisekedi arrived the day before in the Chinese capital, where he will participate in the ninth edition of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (Focac), to be held from September 4 to 6.
