China and South Africa establish strategic partnership in a new era

Beijing, Sep 2 (Prensa Latina) China and South Africa established on Monday a strategic partnership of comprehensive cooperation in the new era during a meeting between the leaders of the two countries held in this capital.

The presidents of China, Xi Jinping, and South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, met at the Great Hall of the People on the sidelines of the 9th edition of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, FOCAC 2024.

The Chinese side stressed that the bilateral friendship is based on the common struggle for national liberation, mutual support for the development of their countries, and united cooperation in pursuing international justice.

Xi mentioned that he has visited South Africa most often, while Ramaphosa is the first president from that continent to pay a state visit to China ahead of the FOCAC summit, which reflected the high level of relations between the two nations.

“This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the new South Africa.”

Despite changes in the international situation, China and South Africa’s mission remains steadfast in the pursuit of modernization, strengthening cooperation, and improving global governance ,” the Premier stressed.
